Economics used to be my weakest subject. I was unable to fully grasp the many concepts and my understanding of that subject was very weak. My grades suffered as a result and it made me lose confidence and dread studying for it. After going for Mr Loh’s tuition class, my attitude towards economics changed drastically.
He has great passion for teaching and economics and one will definitely feel his enthusiasm in carrying out his lessons. With the uses of simple but relevant real life examples he showed us how economics is very applicable to our everyday lives. Every lesson, Mr Loh goes through numerous questions painstakingly with full detail so that we can learn as much as we can for related topics. He goes through the step-by-step thought process with us so that we will be able to organize our thoughts better.
Being a very dedicated and efficient teacher, Mr Loh never fails to return any written assignments within 2 weeks together with detailed comments and areas for improvement on every piece of work, not forgetting encouraging remarks if an assignment is well done.
Mr Loh is sure to not neglect any student in his class. He goes around asking everyone economics-related questions to engage them and to check on their understanding. His use of unique acronyms helped us remember the content easily. He sieves out and focuses on the more important content bits so that we can better digest them without compromising on crucial points.
A large range of practice questions is provided so that we will be exposed to more types of questions to gain confidence. Not only that, he offers suggested answer schemes so that we can have a better idea of how essay answers should be written.
There is never a boring moment in his tuition classes, a huge dose of humor is injected into his lessons to engage the students and help them relax after a long and tiring day at school. At times, Mr Loh shares his own stories with us to retain our attention and to take a short break from economics.
Apart from teaching economics, Mr Loh also cares about our studying habits and he recommends methods of revision to us. He equips us with the skill of writing with quality and giving smart answers. When he senses that we are feeling very stressed out, he encourages us to perseverance and motivates us to press on. He is a very understanding teacher who constantly reminds us that doing our best is more important than the results. My grades improved from an E to a B in just 3 months With his help.
My confidence and understanding of economics has also improved greatly and I am now able to appreciate the works of economics, all thanks to Mr Loh! .

I first joined Mr Loh’s Economics Tuition Class in Leaner’s Lodge in February 2015, till the A level examinations later that year. Mr Loh is one of the most dedicated and inspiring teachers I have ever met! Mr Loh goes beyond his role of being an economics tutor, and cares for each and every one of his student. His unique teaching pedagogy brings smiles to every student in class and gets one to think and evaluate concepts, rather than the traditional listen and copy style. Most important of all, Mr Loh believes in each of his student, and tirelessly works to bring out the best in them. His passion towards teaching, coupled with detailed clear explanations, will definitely help one on one’s Economics journey. It has been a great pleasure being his student, and I have benefitted much from him, learning not only from Economics but life values as well.

Dear Mr Harry Tiew, Thank you Mr Tiew for your guidance in my J2 year. I hated econs in J1(scored badly) but econs became my favorite subject in J2 after attending your lessons. Real life application taught frequently, I never once dreaded to attend econs tuition. Thank you once again.

Thank you, Mr Koh, for being the best Econs teacher ever, always making us write more essays and pushing us beyond our capabilities. Your clear and precise teaching methods and notes have definitely been the reason why I managed to do well in Econs despite having failed all the way since J1. I can never thank you enough for your guidance, patience and comments in each of my essays you marked. Thank you, Mr Koh! Couldn’t have done it without you.

He’s close, but no teacher can guarantee an A. Mr Gilbert Lee can guarantee we’ll have the chance to be our best. Statistically, that’s an A.
Mr Lee believes so much in us, that I guess it’s hard not to believe in ourselves too. Most teachers can teach the content (albeit without the foundation). Some teachers can teach the skills. But I’ve yet to see anyone else empower their students. And somehow, when he’s doing all that, the results deliver.
He’s effective and funny (in his lame way), passionate and knowledgeable. He respects and is respected. Mr Lee is a damn good teacher, and possibly a better friend. I miss his lessons.

I must say that I am an extremely fortunate and lucky student to be part of Mr Loh's Dunman Economics class in 2015. Despite the relative boring and confusing nature of Economics to me, Mr Loh is still able to superbly present the subject to me in an engaging and relatable manner. His Economics class has indeed greatly widened my understanding of the world in the realm of Economics, making all the black and white theory on my lecture notes and tutorials come to life in class. Mr Loh is also a very professional teacher, forever well prepared for lessons, going the extra mile for students by staying back to answer our questions and encouraging us to submit essays to him to sharpen our writing skills, demanding the best from us, and also teaching us lessons beyond the classroom boundaries.
If there's anything that I regret, is that I did not sign up for class earlier when I was in JC1. I can't seem to fathom my message of gratitude into any kind of concise message without rambling off about what I love and learned in class. A one-liner isn't representative of how I feel, but Thank You Mr Loh for all you've done for me and my classmates!!

I joined Mr Loh’s JC2 H2 Economics Class in June 2015, following my friend’s recommendation of the class. Following the first lesson itself, I was left with no doubt that I was in extremely capable hands for the remaining 5 months of my A Level journey.
Mr Loh is one of the most amazing teachers I have had the privilege to be taught by.
The first thing that struck me was his boundless energy – it’s something that he never seems to have a shortage of! He has clear, focused energy that he uses to deliver jam-packed 2-hour lessons every single time. Not a moment is wasted in his lessons, and you leave the classroom each time with a much better understanding of the topic or skill covered. That is not to say that he’s a drill sergeant – he’s firm & task-oriented, but any student of his will tell you that he’s hilariously flamboyant.
The next trait that captured my attention was the individual attention he is able to accord each student, even in a group setting. Mr Loh is not a teacher who shows up to class to merely cover the planned material and send everyone home at the end of 2 hours. He keeps track of the progress of every single student in his class, and engages them differently in each lesson, to ensure that they grasp the required skills and the subject matter. He is an extremely approachable teacher, and entertains all questions & clarifications that his students have for him, even after class. He may even approach you if he feels that there is an area or skill you ought to pay more attention to, suggesting the sort of practice you should be doing or offering the necessary resources you may need.
Lastly, I feel that the greatest attribute of Mr Loh is his sincere dedication. Mr Loh works tirelessly for his students, both inside and outside the classroom. In the classroom, he gives his 100% in his teaching by crafting sound lesson plans, delivering lesson material in a structured & easy-to-understand manner and correcting his students’ mistakes as and when they occur. Out of the classroom, he is always willing to answer queries that his students have and marks class assignments & additional submissions from his students - always returning them on time. I think the only thing Mr Loh ever asks of students is that they too put in sincere effort for their studies.
To summarise, Mr Loh is an extremely knowledgeable and devoted teacher, who conducts every lesson with vigour & enthusiasm, offering each and every student the attention he/she needs.
Thank you, Mr Loh! I am so glad to have been under your tutelage.

Mr Gilbert Lee helps his students build a strong foundation in Economics. He takes the effort to explain to us the things that we are studying so that we do not have to blindly memorise the many curves and explanations.
Many believe that the key to doing well in Economics is to faithfully study the content till one can remember every single aspect of the notes. However, any JC Econs student will know it isn’t true after a few months. Mr Lee taught us a more efficient way of studying and taught us the thinking and writing skills needed to do well. He skillfully “dissects” the different components of the Economics paper and trains us to develop the various skills required. I usually get a mediocre score for Case Study, however after Mr Lee trained us on Case Study skills, I topped my class in J2 March Common Test.
Being well read and knowledgeable, Mr Lee never fails to link the concepts we are learning to current affairs. Mr Lee guides us to see the relevance of the concepts we are studying which motivates us to learn more about Economics. Giving world examples are required in essays, and I do not have problem linking the discussion of my essay with world happenings since Mr Lee’s lessons help me to establish a link between Economics and world events. Compared to my friends who are always busy reading up on world news before Economics Paper, Mr Lee helps us build our “current events bank” on a daily basis, which gives us ample time to analyse it.
Mr Lee guides us to develop our personal opinions and trains us to be a true humanities student where we view the same issue from different perspectives. I used to be extremely fixated and adamant on my views. 2 years in Mr Lee’s class makes me more open to contrasting ideas and I learn to listen to opposing views before I develop my own stand. This could be reflected in my economics essay and a piece of work with a strong personal voice definitely stands out. Going beyond the superficial consideration of Economics grade, Mr Lee guides me to become a critical thinker with objective opinions. Learning humanities is like gaining new lenses to view the world in another light but sadly schools, in their attempt to teach more in the limited time, often neglect to impart to students the essence of learning humanities. My biggest takeaway from being an Economics student is my ability to look at the world through macro lens and to develop a global outlook. I am thankful to Mr Lee for that.
I am extremely grateful to Mr Lee for the faith he has in his students. He never gives up on any of us. I am not one that understands concepts instantly and during times when I feel dejected, Mr Lee always encourages me to try again and he will come up with new ways of explaining things to me. Even if it means explaining a simple concept for 10 times, and going home late, Mr Lee will do it, just for his students. Thank you, Mr Lee, for believing in our abilities even during times when we doubt ourselves.
Thank you Mr Lee, for being the best teacher anyone can ask for.

I think the best part of Mr Lee’s tuition is the fact that he doesn’t just teach you Economics content, but more importantly, how to be study-smart and strategic when it comes to A level Economics. Mr Lee teaches a systematic approach to breaking down, analysing and understanding question requirements, something which I really struggled with. It honestly gave me a sense of confidence and certainty in whatever question I attempted. Within that short span of time spent with him just before A levels, Economics honestly seemed a lot more simplified. Thanks again sir!

Economics is a subject foreign to most JC students and many would find it confusing and difficult to understand. Prior to attending Mr Lee’s class, I was struggling with the subject in school. Not only did Mr Lee’s classes help improve my Economics grades, they sparked interest in me to learn more about the subject. His classes provide a thorough, in depth view of the subject with crystal clear explanation. The dedication that Mr Lee puts into his teaching has made a huge difference. Thank you Mr Lee!

Mr Loh Zhi Hong taught me H2 A level Economics from June to December 2015. Within a month, I improved significantly from an E to a high C, which boosted me from the 38th percentile to 75th percentile of my junior college. It was a miraculous feat that never could have been achieved without Mr Loh's clear and concise method of teaching. He focused heavily on answering techniques and clarified all my weak concepts, especially those of Microeconomics. Being highly resourceful, he also provided many practice papers from other junior colleges that helped to familiarise me with exam conditions and developed my confidence in Economics. I fully recommend him for any student in need of an Economics tutor."

Mr Loh Zhi Hong is a highly skillful teacher who is able to tactfully cater to the learning abilities of all his students by pacing his lesson very well. His vibrant, expressive and humorous nature makes all of his lessons dynamic, engaging and easy to follow. After each lesson, he would also spend time answering any of our queries. Outside classroom, he encourages us to submit essays and always promptly provides detailed, constructive and useful tips in framing our answers to flesh out certain concepts to the examiners.
Before every topic, Mr Loh would spend time teaching us the big ideas in order to provide highly rigorous answers because each student may have different levels of understanding. From there, he would slowly build up his lessons by showing us how the same foundational concepts are repeatedly tested by Cambridge. Subsequently, he would inter-link topics and teach us how to answer any type of questions no matter how they have been worded, a skill that is important for students taking the 'A' Level examinations.Mr Loh's dedication makes him an exceptional teacher whose lessons I often look forward to. He managed to make Economics a subject that is highly interesting and relevant to our daily lives. He has also inspired me to read beyond the lecture notes and be more aware of the economic issues around the world.

Mr Loh is an extremely dedicated Economics teacher and he never fails to inject the right dose of humour into his lessons hence making his lessons both interesting and enjoyable. He is also very well-learned in the subject and makes every effort to impart his knowledge to us. This makes Economics a less alienable subject and I personally appreciate how he has helped me in relating the study of Economics to our everyday lives. Last but not least, I have the utmost admiration for his dedication in ensuring that we are able to improve. From taking the extra mile to mark our essays to his insistence in clarifying any doubts we have in class, Mr Loh is truly a respectable teacher! Thank you Mr Loh!

Mr Loh is one of the best tutors I know. His depth of knowledge of the subject, Economics, and the syllabus has enabled him to quickly identify his students' weaknesses and how we can score effectively. His methods and tips are easy to grasp. Like like any other subjects, practice is very important for these to become instinctive - he never fails to consistently remind us of such basics which is key to scoring well for Economics.
Mr Loh is also an extremely dedicated and thoughtful tutor. Despite his strict demeanour, he is undoubtedly caring towards his students - he remembers the different important commitments we have (in my case, A Level Art) and he would show his concern and support for us during such times. He is always driven and this influenced me greatly. It pushed me to want to achieve higher and improve in the areas that I am lacking in. I am extremely grateful for his guidance and support.

Mr Loh is an extremely dedicated teacher who not only strives to help students pull up their grades, but also inculcates in them a joy for learning. Mr Loh is a very sincere and genuine teacher. He puts his students' needs foremost, and even takes on extra workloads such as essay submissions from students, which he marks outside of class time. He is also always willing to stay behind after class to help clarify students' doubts. Mr Loh's lessons are always animated and engaging. Under his tutelage, students will not only gain more in-depth knowledge about Economics as a subject, but will also better appreciate it and its applications in real life.
